Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival 2025
The Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival is a straight-ahead jazz festival that happens annually. We offer 3 days of jazz music on 5 stages running simultaneously. Four of our stages are paid stages.
Our JAM stage is located just inside Bethesda Marriott’s Copper Mill restaurant and it’s a free stage. We also offer masterclasses, live interviews with the performing artist, a midnight jam session, and youth jam sessions that are free Location: Bethesda Marriott, 5151 Pooks Hill Road, Bethesda, MD 20814.

Planning for Interpretation at Black and African American Heritage Sites Tour
Heritage Montgomery invites you to join an engaging tour exploring best practices in interpreting Black and African American heritage sites as part of the Small Museum Conference. This tour will take you to several fascinating locations across Montgomery County, offering meaningful discussions, valuable learning opportunities, and plenty of fun.
Visit several Montgomery County sites rich in Black and African American history and engage in a multi-site conversation about interpretation and interpretive planning within the specific context of Black and African American histories.
10:30 am to 3:30 pm, concluding at the opening reception, with return service to the conference hotel at 6:00 pm

Black History Month: A Discussion Across Genres
Please join us in celebrating Black History month with a panel featuring the following authors, moderated by Michael King. Tony Keith Jr., PhD is an award-winning Black American gay poet, spoken word artist, and Hip-Hop educational leader from Washington DC. Or, you can just call him an “Ed Emcee”. He is the author of How the Boogeyman Became a Poet and Knucklehead (February 2025), both published by HarperCollins. A multi-year fellow of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, Tony has featured performances at John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington National Cathedral, Historic Lincoln Theatre, Bus Boys & Poets, and in schools and communities around the world including South Africa, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago and many more.

Black History Month Drop-In Activity
Gaithersburg Community Museum: Throughout February, the Gaithersburg Community Museum will honor Black History month with a variety of engaging activities and a special poster exhibit celebrating notable Black heroes from Maryland. 2024 General Election
Election Day in MoCo: Marylanders can vote in person during early voting or on election day. For the 2024 Presidential General Election, early voting will be available from Thursday, October 24, 2024, through Thursday, October 31, 2024 (including Saturday and Sunday) from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you want to receive your ballot by mail or fax, your request must be received (not just mailed) by Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

MCPS Voter Education Forum
Voter Education Forum 2024 Candidates for MCPS Board of Education: Meet the candidates, hear what is important, and tell them what is important to you (At-Large, District-2, and District-4). The general election is Tuesday, November 2024, and the voter registration deadline is October 15th, 2024. Hosted by Mt. Calvery Baptist Church Community Engagement and Social Justice Ministry.
